Haggis served with whisky, potatoes and swede for Burns Night

Top tips for hosting a Burns Night Supper

On January 25, Scots and people of Scottish descent all over the world celebrate the life and work of the 18th-century bard Robert Burns. At “Burns suppers” from Nairn to Nashville, they’ll make speeches, recite poems, crack jokes, and raise a dram or three of whisky to the immortal memory of Rabbie. And, of course, no Burns Night supper would be complete without a chieftain haggis.

Here are our top tips for a Burn’s Night Supper

1. Choose a good quality haggis to be delivered to your door.

All the haggis we stock is made from the finest ingredients. For deliveries within the UK, we’d recommend Macsween, and tinned haggis also maintains its warm, earthy flavours.

2. Pick a delivery date that suits you

Haggis UK has a reputation for great service and delivery. Our purpose is to make sure your haggis arrives at your door when you need it.

3. Cook up a feast

Despite the complexity of flavours within a haggis, it is really simple to prepare. Take a look at our guide on how to cook haggis. It includes helpful advice on portion sizes too.

Bonus tip …

Don’t forget the haggis-friendly condiments

Traditionally, haggis is served with a whisky cream sauce, but if you’d like to try something a little different, we’d recommend a redcurrant sauce with a hint of whisky and horseradish. Sure to add a little spark to the evening.

Most importantly of all, have fun!
